I'm official!

The school board hired me Tuesday night, so I am now officially going to be a teacher. I don't know if I'm really ready for this, but we shall see.

I got home last night and a bunch of friends who I went to camp with over 30 years ago sent me a sort of baby shower in a box.
I got lots of composition books, push pins, tape, paper clips, scissors, books and a tote bag with my name on it, among other things. They have been so wonderful and supported through my whole journey back to teaching.

The other thing I'm doing to try and get myself ready to go back to teaching, and to try and get myself healthy, is exercising. I HATE exercising, but I joined the gym yesterday and started with the weights. I went back this morning, at about 7 a.m. Figured I'd better start getting used to arriving in town at the crack of dawn. Now it's 10:30 a.m. and I'm ready to go home and go to sleep, but that's not an option. Too bad. Weight lifting and bike riding are wearing for an old lady.

I'm already beginning to find out about the red tape and other insanity that permeates education. I'm supposed to take a workshop this summer on some sort of literacy deal. I went to sign up for the thing and it's closed. So exactly how am I supposed to take it? They will either pull strings or I guess I'll do without.
